East End House’s Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Giveaway a Success

East End House’s annual Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Giveaway took place on November 22nd. With the slow national economic recovery, many families need extra help through the holidays.

Over 800 families received baskets filled with all the necessary ingredients for a festive holiday meal.

Donations came from many local businesses and individuals, including Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Biogen Idec, BioMed Realty Trust, Inc., Boston Wireless Inc., Cambridge Savings Bank, Cambridge Technology, Cell Press/Elsevier, East Cambridge Savings Bank, Equity Office Properties, Equity Residential-Third Square Apartments, Foley Fiore Architecture, Forrester Research, GenOn Energy, Inc., Genzyme, Johnnie’s Foodmaster, the Kennedy-Longfellow School, Mathematica Policy Research, the Middlesex County Juvenile Court, Millbrook Cold Storage, Pilgrim Congregational Church, Pivot, Inc., Residence Inn Boston Cambridge, Shaw’s, Trader Joe’s, Transatlantic Investment Management, Inc., Whole Foods Fresh Pond, and the YMCA of Greater Boston Waltham. Many company employees and individuals also volunteered, helping to sort food into baskets and distribute the baskets during the drive. “This event would not be possible without the many generous donors and volunteers who participate every year. With their help, East End House makes sure that hundreds of families are able to celebrate Thanksgiving” said Michael Delia, President and Chief Executive Officer of East End House.
