Community Youth Development
East End House is committed to creating programming for youth that will give them all the tools they need to be successful. A variety of evolving initiatives make up our youth development programming.

Service Learning
East End House offers Service Learning projects in the Food Pantry through local schools and educational programs. Students from the Community Charter School of Cambridge, Summerbridge Cambridge, and East End House’s School Age and Middle School Program's have all participated in service learning projects. East End House can work with your group or school to create a challenging and age-appropriate service learning curriculum.

Community Service and Internships
East End House provides youth with opportunities to give back to the community through volunteer opportunities at the agency. Youth help plant and maintain our garden, assist with clean-up days, help out in childcare classrooms, and much more.

East End House also partners with local businesses, such as the Cambridge Innovation Center, to offer youth internships. East End House works with businesses to help youth gain valuable job skills and make professional connections that will serve them well beyond the duration of the internship. East End House is also a partner in The Cambridge Challenge, a multiyear, citywide initiative of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce's Community Outreach Committee to bring businesses and youth together as partners in diverse, creative, and practical ways.

One-on-One Mentoring
To better meet the needs of middle school youth who are at-risk academically or socially, East End House created a one-on-one mentoring program. Mentoring has been shown to have positive effects on youth’s academic performance, behavior, and ability to pursue higher education. Youth are matched wtih professionals, graduate students, and retirees in the community. Pairs meet weekly with the context of the Middle School Program to cook, play sports, create art projects, engage in science experiements, and more. For more information how you can make a difference in the life of a young person by becoming a mentor, check out the Get Ivolved Page or contact Caitlin McCormick at 617-876-4444 or caitlin@eastendhouse.org.
